Companies on the list are ranked according to their percentage revenue growth over three years, from 2022 to 2025. To qualify, companies must be privately held, for-profit, based in the U.S., and independent, and the minimum revenue requirement is $100,000 for 2022 and $2 million for 2025.

The Inc. 5000 ranks companies by three-year revenue growth rather than company size, making it a growth list, not a size list. The Fortune 500 ranks the largest U.S. companies by total annual revenue, so a very large company can miss the Inc. 5000 entirely while a mid-sized private company that keeps growing earns a place on it.

Each year's list measures a new three-year window. To qualify ten times in a row, a company's revenue has to keep growing across overlapping periods. One strong year is not enough. The 2026 list includes 96 companies that earned a spot on the Inc. 5000 for the 10th time or more.
