Brooke Horan Williams Talks About Stage Makeup vs. Screen Makeup

PARK CITY, UTAH, UNITED STATES, March 5, 2020 /EINPresswire.com/ — Unless you’re behind the camera or on stage, you probably tend don’t give a lot of thought to all the work that goes into creating just the right look for an actor. For centuries, Brooke Horan Williams says, special makeup for the stage is one of the primary ways an actor will relate to his audience. Here, Brooke Williams talks about the differences in makeup for the stage and screen and why it’s important to the performance, no matter where it is.

“There are several differences in the type of makeup and the way it’s applied,” Brooke Horan Williams says, “and it all depends on whether it’s for screen or for stage.” She explains that the idea of regular, everyday makeup is to cover imperfections without bringing attention to itself. “The natural look is in for everyday wear,” she adds.

As opposed to makeup for the stage which needs to be heavy, makeup for the screen is just the opposite, Brooke Horan Williams says. When working on a television or movie set, the camera zooms in much closer. “How it’s applied, therefore, must be a lot more natural looking.” She explains screen makeup needs to soften or even hide the imperfections without looking “made up.”

Stage makeup, on the other hand, might look pretty drastic in the mirror, she says, but on stage it makes you recognizable even from a distance. Makeup for stage needs to accentuate the actors’ features and is intended to be a part of their costume. It’s applied with a heavy hand while still looking tasteful, Brooke Horan Williams says. The reason it’s so heavy, she explains, is that it must be seen from every angle and sometimes from far away. She laughs as she continues, “there is no zoom feature on stage.”

Brooke Williams says a cream base is important for stage makeup. “It gets really hot under these lights,” she says, “so you want something that helps your skin breathe.” Cream-based foundations and blushes do this, she says, unlike oil-based makeup. Everything goes on a little heavier, she continues. “We like false eyelashes for depth and often outline the eyelid with a white pencil which tends to make the eye look bigger.” Our contouring is well-defined, she adds, because we don’t want the harsh lights to wash our actors out. The lip liner might go just outside the lips to make them appear larger.

For the screen, production sets like to use makeup that appears minimal, Brooke Horan Williams says, while doing a good job of covering up imperfections. Cameras can really accentuate wrinkles, so we keep that in mind when applying makeup on set, she adds. In addition, Brooke Williams says professional makeup artists will always use professional products that don’t reflect light. “We want the camera to focus on the actor, not the makeup,” she explains, “and it takes a real professional to do this just right for the screen.”

Justin C. Williams Medical Laser Enthusiast Discusses Video Game Addiction – Who’s to Blame?

PARK CITY, UTAH, UNITED STATES, March 5, 2020 /EINPresswire.com/ — With all the temptations of the everyday world all around us, who would have thought video game addiction would ever be a real thing? Yet, it is, according to Justin C. Williams medical laser enthusiast, and it’s growing in numbers every year. Video game addiction is not yet recognized by the American Medical Association, says Justin C. Williams, but in May 2019, the World Health Organization added “gaming disorder” to its long list of mental disorders.

Justin C. Williams medical laser enthusiast points out that the World Health Organization website* shows a pretty specific definition of an addict. It shows the definition of gaming disorder as “as a pattern of gaming behavior characterized by impaired control over gaming, increasing priority given to gaming over other activities to the extent that gaming takes precedence over other interests and daily activities, and continuation or escalation of gaming despite the occurrence of negative consequences.”

To Justin C. Williams medical laser enthusiast, that’s a pretty extreme definition. In fact, the World Health Organization says that this definition will include only a very small proportion of the global population; however, they go on to say, “people who partake in gaming should be alert to the amount of time they spend on gaming activities, particularly when it is to the exclusion of other daily activities, as well as to any changes in their physical or psychological health and social functioning that could be attributed to their pattern of gaming behavior.” This is alarming since up to 72% of young men ages 19 to 29 enjoy video games according to Pew Research Center on a survey* done about video game playing.

In his book* entitled Glow Kids: How Screen Addiction is Hijacking Our Kids – and How to Break the Trance, Dr. Nicholas Kardaras talks about the dangers of electronics and how they can affect us if we overdo it. He references brain-imaging studies of the effects of screen time and says that brain imaging shows actual changes that can occur as a result of too much time behind an electronic screen.

But Justin C. Williams medical laser enthusiast says although this may be true, whether someone has a problem with video game addiction isn’t something that can be measured with a clock. “I would think one would need to examine if gaming negatively affects the person,” he says. For example, if someone plays several hours a day yet is still able to get their schoolwork done, chores completed, and still maintains a healthy social life, can he really be considered an addict? Justin C. Williams says medical specialists should look at someone’s life in context and not simply go by a textbook definition. “I’m not a doctor,” he adds, “but I believe even I’d know the difference between a passionate hobby and addiction.

Dr. Thomas Harford of Columbia Talks About Teaching Your Child About the Disabled

Dr. Thomas Harford Columbia

COLUMBIA, NY, UNITED STATES, March 5, 2020 /EINPresswire.com/ — Not many people are aware that in 1987, U.S. President Ronald Regan proclaimed the month of March as Developmental Disabilities Awareness Month*. With more and more disabled individuals merging into society throughout the 70s and 80s, Regan believed the public needed more recognition, knowledge, and understanding to help disabled individuals adapt in their new roles. While many schools have made tremendous strides in this area, Dr. Thomas Harford talks about some of the ways you can help your child at home understand what being disabled means to help advance his or her understanding and acceptance of disabilities of all types.

With the passage of the Americans with Disabilities Act* of 1990, Dr. Thomas Harford begins, our country finally began to take special care of our disabled citizens. Even so, he says, children will be children and will sometimes not know how to approach someone they view as different from themselves. Dr. Tom Harford says there are a few things he recommends to his clients to help your child learn about disabilities.

Dr. Tom Harford recommends we start by teaching our children about the different types of disabilities. For example, some disabilities aren’t obvious, like learning disabilities, he says, while others are readily apparent, such as physical disabilities. Talking to your child about some of the different types of disabilities can go a long way towards facilitating an understanding of the disabled person, he adds.

You might want to read books with your child about disabled children, Dr. Thomas Harford says. This will give you an opportunity to explain some of the terms that your child might not know. Some of the types of disabilities you might discuss include communication disorders, learning disorders, hearing disorders, or they could be physical disabilities like vision difficulties, vocal disorders, or having to use a wheelchair.

The main focus of your talk with your child should be how all people are different, and that it’s okay to be different. Dr. Thomas Harford also encourages discussion about bullying with your child and what it means to bully someone. Encourage your child to be the friend that reaches out and includes others. Teach them to be aware of when bullying is happening and encourage him or her to speak out about it to a trusted adult if they see it happening.

Allow your child to ask you questions. Children are naturally curious, Dr. Harford says, and questions are a good way to allow them a safe and comfortable place for what they want to know. Be sure to let them know the door is always open for questions down the road as well.

One of the methods of moving past awareness and into acceptance is by role playing. An example, Dr. Tom Harford says, is to have the child try to communicate an idea to you without being able to verbalize it. This allows your child to gain an understanding of just some of the difficulties a vocally disabled person has each day.

Dr. Thomas Harford says we need to also be aware of our own language and behaviors toward disabled people. How we talk about and to disabled people — our language and our actions — will be picked up by even the youngest child. Most of all, Dr. Thomas Harford says, by watching your actions and your intentions, your child will learn acceptance of people that are not exactly like him. “In the end, isn’t that something we’re all looking for?” he asks.

With over 25 years of management and teaching experience in both private and public higher education, Dr. Thomas Harford does academic advising at all levels. His company, Mind-Revise focuses on academic advising, learning outcomes assessment, academic support and learning initiatives, academic program design and development (online, hybrid and face-to-face), international partnerships, student life and alumni affairs, admissions, recruitment and marketing, and teaching. Marc Linsky Talks About Three Critical Steps to Starting Your Own Home-Based Business After Retirement

Marc Linsky eStreet Financial

WEST PALM BEACH, FL, UNITED STATES, March 5, 2020 /EINPresswire.com/ — If you’re like most Americans who want to retire somewhere around 65, you’re going to be looking for ways of making extra money to supplement your retirement. Needing more money in your retired years isn’t something new, Marc Linsky says, and starting a home-based business is an extremely popular idea. Many of today’s workers are putting off retirement, Marc adds. It doesn’t have to be this way. Many of his clients have come up with interesting and innovative ways of earning extra money in their golden years with their own at-home business. In this article, Marc Linksy discusses the three critical steps you need to do first before planning to start your own business after retirement.

First, Marc Linksy says, take an inventory of your projected retirement income. How much do you need in additional income? Write down all your sources of income and your expenses. After you have a clear goal in mind, determine how much income you’ll need to sustain your expected lifestyle. “Then I’d recommend adding at least another 20%,” Marc says, “as it’s always good to have a buffer.”

Then write down all your projected expenses. Marc Linksy says to be sure to include extra for things like medical premiums and prescriptions. “I’d recommend being generous with expenses like these because if you’re like most retirees, you’ll need additional healthcare down the road,” he adds.

Next, Marc Linsky suggests figuring out what you enjoy doing in your spare time. “Too many people do work they don’t really like,” he says. Marc suggests taking a deep look at things you love to do. “Go ahead and make a list,” he says. “Write down everything you enjoy doing from general things like helping people with their finances to fixing things.” Marc Linsky says a list like this will be the springboard from which profitable ideas for an enjoyable retirement will come. “This is especially important if you are thinking about starting your own business,” he adds, “as it will help increase the quality of your life in your later years.”

The final thing Marc Linsky recommends is to see if any of the things you enjoy doing are monetizable. “In other words,” he says, “is there enough market demand that you can make money from it?” For example, Marc Linsky says, let’s say you enjoy walking dogs. If you live in a big city, there might be plenty of need for this type of service in your area, he says. But if you live in a rural area, it wouldn’t be such a great idea.

As an example, Marc Linksy explains, “I had a client once who loved to sew in her spare time. She decided to start a business sewing custom oversized bibs for seniors in nursing homes.” It was a great idea, he adds, and she did exceptional work, except unfortunately there’s no market for that he added. If she had done some research ahead of time, she would have found that out. This client ended up spending thousands for a website, business cards, licensing, and other incidentals before she realized the idea itself wasn’t viable.

Too often, people will forget that you need to look at the demand side to see if there’s a market for what you enjoy, Marc says. Some places to research demand for products and services would be sites like Amazon, specialized group forums online, and Google’s keyword planner. Proper research is the first step to see if people are searching for what you’re considering. “This is just the beginning of several steps I recommend,” Marc Linsky said. “A little bit of research at this early stage will go a long way towards preserving your investment for your future.”

Nick Stroboulis Shares the Difference Between Commercial and Janitorial Cleaning Services

Nick Stroboulis Tampa

TAMPA, FL, UNITED STATES, March 5, 2020 /EINPresswire.com/ — Nick Stroboulis is the owner of Bella’s Cleaning Service Inc., a commercial cleaning service operating in Davenport, FL. For his clients, it’s vital to have clean and organized facilities to maintain the reputation of their business, the safety of employees, and the satisfaction of their clients. When it comes to commercial cleaning services, business owners have the option between janitorial services and commercial cleaning services. It’s easy to merge the two services since they overlap in some way. Nick Stroboulis offers a breakdown of the two services.

Main Difference Between Janitorial and Commercial Services
For the most part, commercial facilities require minimal everyday cleaning tasks and larger cleaning tasks that are only needed a few times a year. For example, a janitorial service will take care of vacuuming the office carpet, but they will not shampoo and deep clean the carpet.

Janitorial Services
Offices, retail facilities, and other commercial buildings often require janitorial services to help them with every day cleaning tasks, according to Nick Stroboulis. These daily cleaning tasks ensure the place is in top shape to make the space more comfortable for clients and employees. Some companies hire janitorial services to tend to their facilities on a daily, weekly, or bi-weekly basis, depending on the needs of the business. Overall, janitorial services help with restroom cleaning, dusting, trash, vacuuming, sweeping, mopping, and cleaning common areas.

Commercial Cleaning Services
According to Nick Stroboulis, some commercial cleaning services specialize in larger cleaning jobs. Business owners hire a commercial cleaner that specializes in specific cleaning tasks that only need to get done a few times a year. For example, janitorial services don’t have the equipment to deep clean carpets. Commercial cleaning companies specialize in power washing, window washing, hard surface deep cleaning, tile and grout cleaning, furniture and upholstery, and carpet cleaning.

Before deciding what kinds of commercial services their business needs, management should take into consideration their facilities. Freestanding buildings will require more maintenance than an office.

Nick Stroboulis moved from Greece to the United States with his family at the age of three and settled in New York. He is an exemplary example of the American dream. Throughout his career. Nick Stroboulis worked for American Express Co., Airlines Reporting Corp, and Arpol Travel Agency. Before diving into the commercial cleaning industry, Nick Stroboulis owned Main Street Street Bail Bonds and New Jersey Fugitive Recovery Group. He lives in Davenport, FL with his family.

Ralph Chapa Discusses A Few of the Qualities A Good Lawyer Needs

Ralph Charles Chapa

FARMINGTON HILLS, MICHIGAN, UNITED STATES, March 5, 2020 /EINPresswire.com/ — Dishonest, immoral, money-grubbing, opportunistic, calculating, uncaring, self-centered, Machiavellian, narcissistic — these are just a few of the personality traits that so many people associate with attorneys. Whether you love ‘em or hate ‘em, you can’t deny the fact that lawyers get a pretty bad rap, at least in pop cultural portrayals.

Of course, no group of people can be painted with such a broad brush. Lawyers come from all walks of life, champion many deserving causes, and do good work for their clients. Yes, there are some greedy and cold-hearted individuals, but that’s true of almost every profession.

So what personality traits does it take to tackle law school, pass the bar exam, and become a successful attorney? We spoke to experienced litigator Ralph Chapa to get his take on the topic.

1 A Way with Words

Expertly crafted prose, whether it is in the form of a movie script, novel, blog post, or closing statement, has the power to change minds and hearts. An excellent trial lawyer, in particular, needs to have a flair for writing. She should be able to craft a compelling argument, tap into jurors’ emotions, and present succinct reasons for her client’s actions. Even when dealing one-on-one with a client, or brokering a settlement in a board room, an attorney should be articulate and well-spoken. Ralph Chapa, who understands the necessity of an affinity for language in the law, says that many people discount this attribute or give it less credit than it deserves.

2. Assertiveness

We sometimes hear about “aggressive attorneys”. In reality, what those folks are talking about is usually assertiveness, rather than straightforward aggression. What’s the difference? Ralph Chapa says that assertiveness is making oneself heard and communicating with conviction, but also with respect. Aggressive people, on the other hand, often attack their adversaries verbally, sling mud, or cross the line of human decency all in the name of winning. Assertiveness is people-forward and can get the job done just as effectively but without causing ill will.

3. Perseverance

Perseverance is another key quality for future attorneys to display. If they don’t have the determination to get up eight times after being knocked down seven, it’s not likely that they’ll make it through law school, let alone go on to a successful law career.
According to Ralph Chapa, perseverance also serves a practicing attorney well. Learning from failure, applying the lessons, and never calling it quits until there’s no other option — those are essential aspects of winning cases and changing clients’ lives.

4. Compassion

Lawyers? Compassion? Absolutely, says Ralph Chapa. Lawyers have to be able to understand what their clients are experiencing, in order to argue on their behalf and advocate for their rights. A keen sense of the wide range of human emotions, and the ability to step into any of those emotions to gain clarity, will help distinguish brilliant lawyers from the mediocre.

Compassion and the willingness to look at a situation from every angle and perspective can also help an attorney formulate his approach. After all, he needs to anticipate what his adversary will feel, and how they will react, in order to craft an effective long-term strategy for winning a case.

Patrick Swindale Explains 3 Best Weightlifting Moves to Build Muscle Mass

Patrick Swindale

LAKEWOOD, WA, UNITED STATES, March 5, 2020 /EINPresswire.com/ — Patrick Swindale works 50 to 60-hour weeks, maintains a 4.0 GPA while working on his master’s degree, helps his family, and is actively involved in his church and community. He’s also an avid weightlifter and a testament to the fact anyone can make time for fitness. Patrick Swindale, who works out a few times a week with his younger brother of whom he is a legal guardian, has his fitness routine down to a science to ensure he can always fit exercise into his schedule. He says weightlifting is one of the most efficient ways to build strength, boost metabolism, and generally improve fitness. He explains the three fundamental weightlifting exercises most people should include in their routine.

3 Fundamental Weightlifting Exercises

Squat

Squats are a compound exercise, meaning they work multiple muscle groups, including glutes, hamstrings, abs, abductors, adductors, erector spinae, rectus femoris, vastus lateralis, and vastus medialis, as well as the soleus and gastrocnemius. Squats are as challenging as they are rewarding. If you’re new to strength training, start with bodyweight squats to perfect your form. Improper form with squats, like any weightlifting exercise, can be extremely dangerous. Once you’re comfortable with bodyweight, try squatting with free weights before working your way up to the barbell.

Deadlift

The deadlift is another compound exercise that targets large muscle groups. Patrick Swindale cites fitness experts* who say these are one of the most effective exercises you can do to build strength. The muscles worked in a deadlift include lats, posterior delts, lower and upper back, abs, obliques, glutes, hamstrings, calves, biceps, forearms, and quads. There are different variations, including Romanian deadlift and Sumo. As with the squat, Patrick Swindale advises the form* is essential. Lift with your legs, not your upper body, to avoid serious injury.

Bench Press

For upper body strength, Patrick Swindale says you can’t get much better than a classic bench press. This workout targets the pecs, biceps, deltoids, shoulders, triceps, middle and inferior trapezius, rotator cuffs, abs, and more. Patrick Swindale says to start with the bar on your chest and push straight up, keeping your back flat on the bench the entire time. If you have to bow your back, reduce the weight until you can do the move without doing so. Visit https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gRVjAtPip0Y to see a tutorial.

Dr. Justin DeGarmo Explains What Cavities Are and How to Prevent Them

Dr. Justin DeGarmo of Elizabethtown Dentistry

ELIZABETHTOWN, NC, UNITED STATES, March 5, 2020 /EINPresswire.com/ — Cavities, also known as caries, are tiny holes in teeth. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, more than 90 percent of people over age 20 in the U.S. have had dental caries in permanent teeth, while over 40 percent of kids and teens ages 2 to 19 have had cavities. Dr. Justin DeGarmo of Elizabethtown Family Dentistry wants to reduce the prevalence of cavities and related dental problems by educating people about what cavities are and how to prevent them.

Dr. Justin DeGarmo explains that cavities are a result of tooth decay. Bacteria, the most common of which is called streptococcus mutans, plaque, which contains acid. It is this acid which eats away at the tooth. It first demineralizes the enamel, the protective tooth coating made primarily of calcium and phosphate. Then, it proceeds to erode the dentin layer underneath the enamel, forming a cavity.

Bacteria feed off of carbohydrates, Justin DeGarmo says, which is why dentists typically recommend avoiding or limiting your intake of sugary and starchy foods and drinks, including soda, alcohol, most cereals, cakes, and candy. If you eat such foods in moderation, brush and floss daily, and see your dentist for routine dental cleanings, your body should be able to mitigate the damage caused by these “acid attacks”, remineralizing through salvia, fluoride, and other sources, such as eating calcium-rich foods. However, if you eat too much of such foods and do not practice good dental hygiene practices, the body does not have the opportunity to remineralize the enamel before another attack, which will more than likely eventually result in cavities.

Justin DeGarmo says you may see small white spots on your teeth as a first sign of decay. At this point, it can be stopped or reversed. This is one reason it is crucial to see your dentist once every six months, so they can check for signs of trouble and stop cavities before they occur. If you have a pain in your tooth or notice a black spot or hole which you think could be a cavity, Justin DeGarmo advises seeing your dentist as soon as possible. Cavities will only get worse if untreated and can become increasingly painful too.

More on Dr. Justin DeGarmo

Dr. Justin DeGarmo received a B.S. in Health Sciences at Clemson University and D.M.D. degree at the Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston, SC. Following dental school, Dr. Justin DeGarmo completed a one-year residency in St. Petersburg, FL and earned certification for Advanced Education in General Dentistry through the University of Florida. During his residency, Dr. Justin DeGarmo trained at the Dawson Academy and earned his Fellowship from the International Congress of Oral Implantologists.

Dr. Justin DeGarmo is a member of the American Dental Association, the Academy of General Dentistry, the Christian Medical and Dental Association, and the North Carolina Dental Association. Justin DeGarmo is a founding member of the Southeastern Prosthodontic Study Club.
